During the initial two betas of Diablo 4, there was a group of players who expressed reservations about the gameplay experience with the Druid class. Despite receiving several buffs such as increased companion skill damage, reduced cooldowns for ultimate abilities, and additional alterations to Maul and Pulverize, some players still felt that the Druid lacked comparative strength compared to the other classes.
However, according to Joe Piepiora, the associate game director of Diablo 4, the Druid class undergoes a significant power scaling in the late game. In fact, its strength at higher levels is greatly underestimated by everyone, as revealed in internal tests:
"Our internal tests indicate that the Druid is actually one of our most formidable classes. However, players were unable to fully grasp the true potential of the Druid during our Beta testing."
